Nigeria 2019: Election Results Updates

The Independent National Electoral commission  (INEC) has begun announcing the results of the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly election. The results which are being announced at the International Conference Centre, Abuja is headed by the INEC chiarman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu. Only results of 4 states and the FCT have been announced so far. They are as follows: 1) EKITI STATE - APC: 219,231 -PDP: 154,032 2) OSUN STATE - APC: 347,634 - PDP: 337,377 3) FCT - APC: 152,224 - PDP: 259,997 4) KWARA STATE - APC: 308,984 - PDP: 138,184 5) NASSARAWA STATE - APC: 289,903 - PDP: 283,849 TOTAL VOTES COUNTED SO FAR APC: 1,317,976 PDP: 1,173,439 The commission has gone on a thirty minute recess to reconvene later at 5pm

19 Year Old Student Allegedly Shot Dead In Kogi As Thugs Disrupt Voting In Anyigba

An undergraduate from the Kogi State University identified as Daniel Usman, has allegedly been shot dead in Kogi state, during the Presidential and National Assembly polls in Ajetachi, Dekina Local Government Area (LGA), Anyigba, Kogi State. Some suspected thugs were allegedly said to have gone from one polling unit to another to harass voters to vote for a particular party. The deceased's refusal to comply with these thugs led to his untimely death. Some hours before his death, Daniel took to Facebook to preach against electoral violence. This was his last post before he was killed. Late Daniel was only 19 years old and had just gained admission into the state university. The commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Hakeem Busari has confirmed the killing. However, details of the incident still remains sketchy as at the time of this report.

Poll results: PDP wins all 15 central polling units in Mpape, Abuja

Abuja – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday won all in the 15 voting points in the Presidential and National Assembly elections at Mpape Central polling units marked 006 and 007 situated at Mpape Primary School, Abuja. Members of the PDP A correspondent who monitored voting point one of polling unit 006 reports that PDP polled 92 votes against 64 of the APC in the presidential election; PDP got 95 votes against APC’s 60 in the senatorial, while PDP got 91 votes against APC’s 62 in the House of Assembly election. At voting point two of 006, PDP polled 120 votes against APC’s 23, while PDP polled 117 votes against APC’s 24 in the senatorial. PDP also got 110 votes against APC’s 23 in the House of Assembly election. PDP wins Orokere Ward 06 in Mopamuro, Kogi

The Peoples Democratic Party won Ward 6 at Orekere-Amuro in Mopamuro LGA of Kogi state, according to the interim result announced by the collation Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday night. Ojeboboh Opeyemi, the INEC Collation Officer of Orokere ward 06, announced the results at the collation centre, YLGEA School 11, Orokere Amuro on Saturday. According to Mr Opeyemi, the PDP presidential candidate won 760 votes, while his APC rival got 447 votes and ADC 53 votes, out of the 1291 valid votes cast. There were 128 rejected votes, making total votes cast to be 1419. In the Senate election, the PDP also beat APC, winning 690 votes. The APC got 469 votes and ADC 141 votes. According to Mr Opeyemi, 1322 votes were valid out of the 1417 total votes cast. 95 votes were rejected. However, the result in the ward for Yagba Federal House of Representatives showed the APC candidate beat the PDP rival, by polling 465 votes. PDP got 326 votes

Natasha Akpoti, a senatorial candidate for Kogi Central senatorial district contesting on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has accused Yahaya Bello, Governor of Kogi State, of preventing her from gaining access into the state ahead of the presidential and National Assembly elections rescheduled for Saturday. Earlier during the week, she had  written a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari , accusing the Governor of planning to assassinate her. The SDP senatorial candidate stated this in a phone conversation with SaharaReporters on Friday night. She alleged that she could not go beyond Banda area, just before Lokoja, the capital city of Kogi State, as the security aides of the Governor allegedly led a team of more than 100 policemen, who prevented her from proceeding on her journey. Court Asks INEC To Make Kabba Kogi West Collation Centre

A Federal high court, sitting in Lokoja, has restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from using Lokoja as the coalition centre for Kogi west senatorial district. The court asked the election umpire to revert to Kabba, the headquarters of Kabba/Bunu local government area for the collation of results of the senatorial election The presiding judge, D.U Okorowu, while delivering his ruling, said that it would take only the National Assembly to effect the change to Lokoja. The Kogi west chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ojo, in motion had asked the court to determine whether it was proper to make Lokoja the coalition centre for the district when Kabba is the senatorial district headcquarters. The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has implored acting Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, to take advantage of last Saturday’s postponement of the general election to look into police partisanship that could have  marred the electoral process in the state if the polls had held. Making the call against the background of the Friday siege on Lokoja, Kogi State  residence of a former governor Ibrahim Idris by hooded policemen during a meeting of PDP leaders  ahead of election day, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Bode Ogunmola, noted that the assailants were considered as political thugs. The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ohimini local government area,  Mr Boniface Okoloho, is dead. Reports have it that Boniface was ambushed and shot dead by unknown gunmen. The report has been confirmed by Moses Yamu, spokesman of the police command. His words, “I can confirm the APC chairman in the area was killed. He was killed by unknown gunmen in the night yesterday. “We have commenced investigation immediately” , he said.

BREAKING: Sixty-Six Killed In Kaduna On Eve Of Presidential Election

Less than 24 hours to the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday, sixty-six people have been killed by gunmen in Kajuru Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State. They were killed on Friday. Among those killed are 22 children and 12 women. Speaking on the incident, Nasir el-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State, expressed sadness at the development, and said the perpetrators would be brought to book. Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Government has condemned the killing and warned all communities against instigating attacks or reprisals. A statement issued by Samuel Aruwan, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor (Media and Publicity), on Friday, noted that four persons who sustained injuries have been rescued by security agencies and are now receiving medical attention. Ex Prisons Boss Murdered By Gunmen In Kogi

Retired  Deputy Controller General of Prisons, Dr Adewale Oloyede, has been murdered alongside his orderly, Dauda Yusuf Michael, a Senior Inspector of Prisons, SIP, by yet to be identified gunmen near Osara town in Kogi State. Spokesman of the Nigerian Prisons Service, DCP Francis Enobore, told newsmen yesterday, in Abuja that the retired officer was travelling to Lagos in his private car when they were attacked at about 3 pm last Friday.  Prison He said:  “A medical doctor by profession, the late officer headed the Directorate of Health and Social Welfare for several years before retiring in 2007. “Until his demise, Oloyede was a member of the National Stakeholders Committee on Prisons Reform and De-congestion under the chairmanship of the Federal Capital Territory Chief Judge, Honorable Justice Ishaq Bello. “As relevant authorities progress in their investigation, it is our collective prayers that the perpetrators will be arrested soonest and brought to book.”
