INEC shifts Kogi, Bayelsa Guber Polls to Nov. 16

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has shifted the governorship election in Kogi and Bayelsa states to November 16. Initially slated for November 2, the commission decided to shift the polls following appeals by the Bayelsa state government and stakeholders for a shift as the earlier date is legally set aside as Thanksgiving Day in Bayelsa. Presidency Backs Ambode; Gives Him The Go Ahead To Run For Second Term

As the 2019 election draws closer, the presidency has reportedly asked incumbent Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, to continue as the APC governorship candidiate. This according to political watchers is against the National chairman, Bola Tinubu’s will. The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and members of the Lagos chapter of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) have refused to endorse Akinwunmi Ambode for a second term. Vanguard reports that the GAC, which is the state’s highest advisory political body headed by Tinubu, rose from its meeting on Saturday, September 22 insisting on direct primary for all gubernatorial aspirants. The 22-man council members was said to have met on Saturday evening inside Tinubu’s Bourdillon residence in Ikoyi area of  Lagos

Lagos Residents Protest; Call for Governor Ambode's Second Term

Some residents of Lagos state, particularly Christians, are currently staging a protest along the busing Ikorodu road, demanding that the incumbent governor,  Akinwunmi Ambode , is allowed to run for a second term in office like his predecessors. Ambode is alleged to have fallen out of favor from his party leaders including APC National leader, Bola Tinubu, and may not fly the party’s flag at the governorship election next year if he fails to win the primaries

Babajide Sanwo-Olu Defeats Governor Ambode

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defeated Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of the state, at ward c, Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday. Olanrewaju Yahaya, the electoral officer in charge of the ward, announced that Sanwo-Olu polled 960 votes ahead of the governor who secured just four votes. Alausa is the seat of power in the state as the governor’s office, state assembly and state secretariat are all there. Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the party, is a registered APC member in ward C. Tinubu had not visited the ward as of the time this report was filed.

Osun Re-Run: Davido's Reaction To PDP's Loss

The widely circulated Osun State gubernatorial election has come to an anti-climax that has left Nigerians disappointed in the electoral process. 30 Billion Gang boss, Davido, who was active in the campaign on the part of his uncle, Senator Adeleke Ademola, PDP's candidate is however yet to say anything about the outcome of the election. His reaction, or rather lack of reaction is pretty shocking seeing as he was overtly active in the election even taing shots at Chhannels TV and AIT for not airing the elections yesterday.
