SDP Senatorial Candidate Natasha Akpoti Accuses Governor Yahaya Bello Of Preventing Her From Entering Kogi

Natasha Akpoti, a senatorial candidate for Kogi Central senatorial district contesting on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has accused Yahaya Bello, Governor of Kogi State, of preventing her from gaining access into the state ahead of the presidential and National Assembly elections rescheduled for Saturday. Earlier during the week, she had  written a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari , accusing the Governor of planning to assassinate her. The SDP senatorial candidate stated this in a phone conversation with SaharaReporters on Friday night. She alleged that she could not go beyond Banda area, just before Lokoja, the capital city of Kogi State, as the security aides of the Governor allegedly led a team of more than 100 policemen, who prevented her from proceeding on her journey. Kogi PDP Asks IGP to Caution Police against Partisanship

The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has implored acting Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, to take advantage of last Saturday’s postponement of the general election to look into police partisanship that could have  marred the electoral process in the state if the polls had held. Making the call against the background of the Friday siege on Lokoja, Kogi State  residence of a former governor Ibrahim Idris by hooded policemen during a meeting of PDP leaders  ahead of election day, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Bode Ogunmola, noted that the assailants were considered as political thugs. He asked the Inspector-General of Police and the Kogi State Command of the  Police to take steps to prevent police partisanship in the elections.
