Vogue responds to accusations of cultural appropriation over Kendall Jenner's Afro hairstyle photos

Kendall Jenner is no stranger to being the face of a misinterpreted photo shoot or advertising campaign and her latest for Vogue caused a huge backlash.

The 22-year-old model was donning an Afro hairstyle in photos that were posted on Instagram , which led to accusations of cultural appropriation.

The portraits show the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star wearing a 1970's hairstyle with the post captioned, "Fifteen years and 150 finalists later, the @CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund prize has created global stars, local heroes, a must-watch New York Fashion Week, and, most important, a true sense of community among designers of all ages and backgrounds - all with differing aesthetic and commercial aspirations - who communicate, collaborate, and essentially care for one another through the fun and not-so-fun times."

This was greeted with a mixed response initially but the screw was being turned on Vogue as more dissenting voices joined the fray and pointed the finger at the fashion mag, saying the photos were in bad taste.
