Herdsmen Kill One in Kogi State

Ogga community in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State has been attacked by some suspected Fulani herdsmen, killing one person. According to a source in the community, a farmer, Mr. Ariyo Aina, 35, was allegedly killed by the Fulani herdsmen on his way to the farm on May 18. Also, the National President of Ogga Progressive Union (OPU), Mr. Bamidele Olure, while speaking with journalists on phone yesterday in Lokoja, Aina was murdered on his way to his farm at about 9a.m. last Saturday. He said the herdsmen victim left his home for the farm at about 9a.m. last Saturday, but to was his slain body that was found by other farmers who were going to the their farms thereafter. Olure said: “There were several machete cuts on his head and body, and we believe it is the handiwork of the Fulani herdsmen, because they are known for such record of killings in the area. The vulnerability - first reported by the Financial Times, and fixed in the latest WhatsApp update - allowed hackers to insert malicious software on phones by calling the target using the app, which is used by 1.5 billion people around the world. The tool was developed by a shadowy Israel-based firm called the NSO Group, which has been accused of helping governments from the Middle East to Mexico snoop on activists and journalists. Security researchers said the malicious code bore similarities to other tech developed by the firm, according to The New York Times. INEC shifts Kogi, Bayelsa Guber Polls to Nov. 16

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has shifted the governorship election in Kogi and Bayelsa states to November 16. Initially slated for November 2, the commission decided to shift the polls following appeals by the Bayelsa state government and stakeholders for a shift as the earlier date is legally set aside as Thanksgiving Day in Bayelsa. Kogi NYSC coordinator dies in auto crash

The Kogi Coordinator of the National Y outh Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Oludolapo Ahile, has died in an auto crash. The Assistant Director, Public Relations, Kogi NYSC, Mr Adedapo Tayo, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the coordinator was involved in a ghastly accident alongside her husband on Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia highway in Nassarawa State. Tayo told NAN that the accident occurred at Lafia axis of the highway at about 2 p.m on Thursday, May 16, after her vehicle somersaulted twice and veered into the bush. Tayo added that the late coordinator and her husband with two other occupants were on their way to Tiv land in Benue for the burial/funeral of her father in-law. He said that the four occupants of the vehicle were rushed to the hospital and it was unfortunate that Mrs Ahile died the early hours of Friday, May 17.
