Dogara speaks on Bauchi crisis, why constituents should shun violence

Speaker of the house of representatives, Yakubu Dogara has said unless the people of Bogoro, Dass and Tafawa Balewa federal constituency of Bauchi state put an end to perennial ethno-religious crises, there will be no perpetual peace in the areas.

He enjoined the people to shun every form of violence and embrace peace through reconciliation.

The speaker gave this advice on Saturday in Tafawa Balewa in a remark at the 2018 Sayawa annual cultural festival.

” Unless our people understand the nitty- gritty of living in harmony the society will not experience effective development despite government’s efforts and that can only be achieved through reconciliation” he said.

He regretted that incessant ethno-religious crises constitute a major impediment amongst the existing tribes in the areas.

Dogara lamented that youths and women have always been victims and at the receiving ends in various crises that rocked the society

” I urge all and sundry irrespective of our whatever differences to live in peace with one another to benefit from the current dividends of democracy,” he added.

Dogara made a case for reconciliation as a better option to the development of societies, stressing that no nation can achieve any meaningful progress without peace and reconciliation.

” Kindly forget all your past mistakes attributable to crisis and embrace one another regardless of our backgrounds,” Dogara said.
